Acupuncture
It is an ancient Chinese healing art that has been practiced for thousands of years. This method involves the insertion of thin, sterile needles into specific points on the body, known as acupoints. These points are connected by pathways, or meridians, through which vital energy (Qi) flows. By stimulating these points, acupuncture aims to restore the balance of energy, promoting the body’s natural healing abilities. Acupuncture addresses not only the symptoms (Branch) but also the underlying imbalances in the body (Root).

At Serenity Point Acupuncture, you will receive collaborative care that integrates the best of both Eastern and Western perspectives to offer you a comprehensive approach to holistic healing. Our team of skilled practitioners understands the importance of integrating traditional Chinese medicine with modern scientific understanding.
While traditional Chinese medicine explains acupuncture through the concept of meridians, Western medicine offers a different perspective on its mechanisms:
Neurotransmitter Release:
Insertion of needles stimulates the release of neurotransmitters such as endorphins, which act as natural painkillers.
Blood Flow and Circulation:
Acupuncture has been shown to enhance blood circulation. Improved blood flow carries oxygen and nutrients to tissues, aiding in the healing process and reducing inflammation.
Modulation of the Nervous System:
Acupuncture influences the autonomic nervous system, helping to regulate various bodily functions such as heart rate, digestion, and immune response.
Connective Tissue Stimulation:
Needles, when inserted into specific points, stimulate connective tissues. This activation triggers a cascade of biochemical responses that contribute to the therapeutic effects of acupuncture.
Anti-Inflammatory Effects:
Research suggests that acupuncture has anti-inflammatory effects by modulating immune responses and reducing inflammation at the cellular level.
Facial Rejuvenation (Cosmetic Acupuncture)
Cosmetic acupuncture, often referred to as facial rejuvenation acupuncture or acupuncture facelift, is a safe and natural alternative to BOTOX and cosmetic surgery, involves the insertion of ultra-fine needles into specific points. It targets not only the symptoms but the underlying constitution of the body as well by combining the facial and body points. In addition to the special needles for the face, in cosmetic acupuncture we use different modalities such as Gua Sha, facial cupping, microneedle rollers and other tools.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture helps with drooping jaw lines, wrinkles and frown lines, reducing acne, decreases the appearance of Rosacea redness and brown aging spots, addresses sagging neck lines, by promoting blood circulation to the face, delivering essential nutrients and oxygen to skin cells.
Cosmetic acupuncture triggers the body’s natural production of collagen—a protein essential for maintaining skin elasticity. Increased collagen can lead to firmer and more supple skin, reducing the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles.
Acupuncture can relax facial muscles, alleviating tension and smoothing out expression lines. This muscle relaxation effect contributes to a more youthful and relaxed appearance.
Cosmetic acupuncture aims to harmonize Qi flow, addressing both physical and energetic aspects of the body. This holistic approach can result in improved skin health and a radiant complexion.
Number of Sessions and Results:
The number of sessions required to see noticeable results can vary based on individual factors such as age, skin condition, and overall health. However, we suggest an initial series of sessions, typically ranging from 6 to 12 treatments, scheduled weekly. Each session lasts about 60 to 90 minutes.
Patients often report subtle improvements after just a few sessions, including enhanced skin tone and a rejuvenated glow. As the treatment progresses, the effects become more pronounced, with a reduction in fine lines, improved texture, and an overall revitalized appearance.
Maintenance sessions are recommended to prolong and optimize the results, typically on a monthly basis. Consistency and adherence to the treatment plan play a crucial role in achieving and maintaining the desired effects of cosmetic acupuncture.
Cupping
Cupping is a traditional healing practice originating in ancient Chinese, Egyptian, and Middle Eastern cultures.
Cupping involves placing cups on the skin and creating a vacuum or suction. This can be achieved through various methods, such as heat (fire cupping), mechanical devices, or manual suction.
It complements traditional methods by addressing not only the symptoms but also contributing to the overall well-being of the individual.
Benefits of Cupping Therapy
Blood Flow Stimulation:
The suction created by the cups draws blood to the surface of the skin, promotes better circulation, ensuring that vital nutrients reach every part of the body, nourishes the underlying tissues, enhancing healing and reducing inflammation.
Release of Tension and muscle relaxation:
Cupping helps to release tension in muscles and connective tissues. As the cups pull on the skin, they stimulate the release of fascial restrictions, promoting flexibility and relieving stiffness.
Pain Relief:
Many individuals turn to cupping for pain relief. The therapy is known to alleviate various types of pain, including muscular pain, joint discomfort, and headaches.
Stress Reduction:
Cupping doesn’t just address physical ailments – it’s also a powerful tool for reducing stress and promoting relaxation.
Lymphatic Drainage:
Cupping promotes lymphatic drainage, which plays a crucial role in the body’s immune response. Efficient lymphatic circulation helps filter out pathogens and waste products, supporting the body’s ability to ward off infections.
Detoxification/ Release of Pathogens:
By enhancing blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, cupping supports the body’s natural detoxification processes, helps draw out and release pathogens and toxins from the body.
Immune System Support:
The increased circulation allows immune cells to travel more efficiently throughout the body and eliminate harmful substances, enhancing the body’s natural defense mechanisms.
Respiratory Relief:
Cupping therapy has been employed to address respiratory issues, making it a valuable tool in managing common colds, flu and coughs.
At Serenity Point Acupuncture, we invite you to embark on a journey of healing and relaxation through the time-honored practice of cupping therapy. Our experienced practitioners are dedicated to providing personalized sessions that cater to your unique needs.

Electroacupuncture
Electroacupuncture combines the ancient wisdom of acupuncture with modern technology to enhance therapeutic outcomes. This method is a specialized form of acupuncture that involves the application of a low-frequency electrical current to acupuncture needles.
During an E-Stim session, thin needles are strategically inserted into specific acupuncture points, just as in traditional acupuncture. These needles are then attached to electrodes that deliver a gentle electrical impulse. The electrical stimulation serves to enhance the overall effectiveness of the treatment.
Benefits of Electroacupuncture
Pain Management:
E-Stim has shown remarkable success in managing various types of pain. The electrical stimulation helps to alleviate pain by modulating the perception of pain signals and promoting the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers.
Muscle Relaxation:
The electrical currents used in E-Stim have a profound effect on muscle tissue, promoting relaxation and reducing tension. This is particularly beneficial for individuals suffering from muscle spasms, tightness, or conditions such as fibromyalgia.
Enhanced Blood Circulation:
By enhancing blood flow to specific areas, this technique helps deliver essential nutrients and oxygen, facilitating the body’s natural healing processes.
Reduced Inflammation:
E-Stim has been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects, making it a valuable adjunctive therapy for conditions involving inflammation, such as arthritis.
Accelerated Healing:
Electroacupuncture can expedite the healing process by stimulating the production of collagen and promoting tissue repair. This is particularly beneficial for individuals recovering from injuries or surgeries.
E-stim successfully used in Weight loss therapy and improves the abdominal muscle and skin tonus.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion (MOXA), an ancient healing practice rooted in traditional Chinese medicine, commonly goes concurrently with acupuncture. Derived from the word “moxa,” meaning the herb Artemisia vulgaris, this therapeutic technique involves the burning of dried mugwort to stimulate specific points on the body. Moxibustion can travel through the 12 meridians, which carry energy throughout the body, it is able to regulate Qi and blood, dispel cold, warm yang and prevent diseases to maintain overall well-being
Types of Moxibustion
Direct Moxibustion:
In this method, a small cone or cylinder of moxa is placed directly on the skin at an acupuncture point and ignited. Another variation is the moxa on top of another therapeutic material, such as ginger, salt or a bamboo “moxa box” before placing it onto your skin.
Indirect Moxibustion:
The more widely practiced form involves burning moxa near, but not directly on, the skin. This can be achieved through the use of top-needle moxa and moxa sticks, which are held over the chosen acupoints or moved in a circular motion to disperse warmth.
This technique has been used for centuries to address a wide range of health concerns, from pain management to immune system support.
- Muscle Skeletal Disorders (Back pain, Arthritis, Joint pain, Muscle stiffness, Tendonitis)
- Headaches and Migraines
- Ulcers
- Fatigue
- Kidney diseases
- Hot Flashes
- Infertility
- Menstrual cramps
- Organ prolapse
- Gastrointestinal issues
It’s also commonly used for breech pregnancy. Moxibustion has been shown to be an effective way to get a baby to turn around on its own, without medical intervention.
